The Lamb steamer Omana was expected to sail to-day for Onerahi to continue loading timber for Sydney. A larg • number of coastal vessels have arrived in port during the past few days to lay up over the holiday period. The Fiona completed discharge of her cargo of sugar at Chelsea yesterday afternoon aud sailed in the evening for Sydney. Tbe small steamer nerekino. purchased in England recen'.ly by Mr. Geo. Nlccol, is due ai an early date from Fremantle. She left the latter port on December 3. Tbe Kllerm.-in and Bucknall steamei City of Edinburgh is to leave Ancklano next Monday for Southern ports and Australia in continuance or ncr voyage from New York. The Poroto arrived at an early hour this morning with a barge In tow from Tiirun. The barge will be taken to Kawau for use us an emergency landing s;age. The British Imperial Oil Company's steamer Pinna is due at Auckland over the week-end with a cargo of caße oil from Borneo. The vessel, which Is coming via Australia, will berth at the Princes wharf. The Dalgleish Shipping Co.'s steamer Illlngworth is expected to leave port early next week for Lyttclton and Port Chalmers to complete discharge of her cargo of sulphur from Gulvcston. The Colonial "Sugar Refining Company has received advice that the Rona left Suva at 6 o'clock this morning with a cargo of raw s.igar for discharge at Auckland. The vessel" is expected at ihis port early on Monday morning. The Swayne and Hoyt steamer West Nllus is dun over the weekend with timber, case oil and general cargo from Pacific Coast ports. Ihc vessel, which Is coming to tbe agency of Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlanc, cleared San Francisco on December 3. TOFUA FROM SUVA. The Union Company's Island steamer Tofua arrived at Suva on Monday night Inst from Nukualofa, and was to leave there to-day for Auckland with passengers, mails, and cargo. She is due in port on Monday next. ASPEN DUE FRIDAY. A radio received by Spedding, Ltd., from the General Corporation's steamer Aspen slates that the vessel expects to reacn Aucklaud on Friday morning from Los Angeles (November 27). The remainder of her cargo is for discharge in Australia. On arrival she will berth at the wesieii. side of the Queen's wharf. SUSSEX LEAVES SAMARANG. The Union Company has been notified by cablegram that the Sussex left Samarang on Friday for New Zealand, en route from Calcutta and Singapore. The vessel is due at Auckland on Janunry 10 and at Wellington a week later. The ship will also discharge at Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin. THE PORT MELBOURNE. An expected arrival at Auckland this evening is the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Melbourne with passengers and cargo from Liverpool to the agency of the Farmers' Co-operative Anctioneering Company. On arrival Bhe is to berth at the Central wharf to land her passengers and to put out the local portion of her cargo before proceeding to Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin to complete discharge. UNION COMPANY'S STEAMERS. The following movements of steamers axe announced by the Union Company:— The Wingatul was expected to leave Wellington to-day for Auckland, via New Plymouth. The Wanaka is to leave Dnnedin on Monday for Auckland, via ports. The Karori is expected to clear Adelaide to-day and Edlthburgh to-morrow for Tasmania. From Devonport she is to come to Auckland direct. The Kahika, en route from Clarence River, is expected to clear Newcastle on December 30 for Auckland and Wellington. \fith cargo for Southern ports, the Navua left the Central wharf this afterNORTHERN COMPANY'S FLEET. The Northern Company advise that the Otimal will load and sail for Whakatane, Opotikl and Mercury Bay on Saturday next. The Arapawa is expected to leave Onehunga for Waikato Heads on Tuesday next. Cargo will be received at the rails on Monday. The Ngapuhi is to leave Auckland foi Northern ports on Saturday at 6 p.m. and the N'gatlawa for Russell at 5.30 p.m. oa Sunday. After landing passengers for the Russell Regatta the last-named steameis to proceed to Houhora. Passengers returning to Auckland after the regatta will come down on the Ngapuhi, which is to leave on Monday evening. AUSTRALASIAN LIGHTHOUSE SHIP. The first of two 1200-ton steamers under construction for the Commonwealth lighthouse service was successfully launched at Cockatoo Island Dockyard on December 10. The new vessel, which was named the Cape Leeuwin, Is expected to be completed in two months, and the keel of the second ship, to be named the Cape York, was laid on December 11. Principal dimensions arc: Length overall, 235 ft; length between - perpendiculars, 225 ft; breadth moulded, 35ft; depth moulded to upper deck, 22ft 6in. The main propelling machinery Is of a three-cylinder tripleexpansion inverted-cylinder type, and Is designed for a speed of 13i knots. Complete electric lighting, fans, bells, and powerful searchlights, are being fitted together with a refrigerating chamber and plant for stores. The vessel will also be equipped with 12-ton derricks for handling buoys, floating lights, etc., and special navigation Instruments of the latest Improved type.
