(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Since Saturday- the tracks at Rlccarton have not been used extensively, and af;or the exodus to the West Coast and Dunedin this morning matters will be very quiet ror a ronnight. Flrestlck and the two-year-old Centrepiece both pulled up lame after working yesterday, and neither accompanied Sir George Clirrord's team, which lert for the South to-rtny. The four who made the trip under 11. Cutis' care were Hungry Hill, Rivalry, Top Score and Retrospect, and they should not come back empty-banded. I'alestrlna, Jubilant, and Gay Juliet are to do the round or the Southern nxtures and all three or them did good work over seven rurlongs at Rlccarton on Saturday. Rivalry stayed on well at tbe end of nine rurlongs on Saturday, and should be hard to beat with 7.1 in the Otago Handicap at wingatui. The Paper Money two-year-old victory Bond is sprinting well, and on Saturday had something the better or the Welcome Stakes winner, Gyrene, at the end or hair a mile in 50 4-as. With the weights both wore carrying this was a smart effort.
The Boniform filly Cumbrae seems to get to the end of seven rurlongs more solidly than heretofore, and arter rorai petlng at the Dunedin Jockey Club s ! summer meeting will be a runner at the | annual meeting at Waikoualti on NewYear's Day. where the company will not Ibe too select.
