\l Sketches of Auckland. Beautiful Views in Pencil. Reproduced on Whatman's Hand" Made paper. Exactly like Artists Proofs. How many times have you longed for a Souvenir of some well-remembered bit of scenery round about your "own familiar town?" For something more intimate than a photograph, something more vivid, as it were, but still something not quite so expensive as an oil painting? For something you could own personally, or could keep on the drawing-room table, or hang on the wall of your most sacred " den"? The Brett Printing Company has solved the problem, and has published the first six of a unique series of pencil sketches, about 12 inches by 9 inches, drawn by Mr. J. P. Sydney, whose beautiful etching of the Old Windmill created such a demand. Six Characteristic Sketches, All the Charm of an Original, At the Price of a Photograph. As it is impossible to take off more than a small number from the plates, the issue has to be strictly limited, and early application should be made. The six Sketches now issued are:— The Old Windmill— A.n artistic rendering of Auckland's most picturesque land-mark. Ruins of St. Thomas', Tamaki— In this the artist has caugnt the poetic atmosphere of Auckland's only ivy-covered ruin. Auckland Grammar School-.. A very dignified picture of the commanding: building that looks out over Auckland from the slopes of Mount Eden St. Andrew's Church — The classical tower of this, the mother church of Auckland Presbyterians, gave the artist full scope for'Bome of his most delicate work. Albert Park— A well-known β-limpse, near the fountain, of Auckland's beautiful hill-top gardens. Auckland University— However people may differ about the tower, the tout ensemble makes a very beautiful picture, and shows what a noble pile has been reared in Princes Street. Copies may be obtained at the " Star " Office, Shortland Street, Price 6/6 each Alao from Hampton Btudio, Kitchener Street, and W. Alexander. I Antique Tradere, 270. Queen Street, Auckland.
