GOVERNMENT DEFEATED. (Received 10.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. In the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Allan's no-confidence motion was carried by 34 votes to 28 and the Government defeated.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) It was recently stated that negotiations were expected to result in the early defeat of the Victorian Labour Ministry, when the Nationalist party igreed to co-operate with the Country party in the formation of a composite Ministry, with Mr. Allan as Premier.
