SPANIARD AND RIFF.

AN INEXORABLE CAMPAIGN. — i NEW ARMY FOB MOROCCO. ] DE RIVERA'S DETERMINATION. (By Cable—l'ress Association. -Copyright.. (Received 12.30 p.m.l MADRID, November 12. ! Extensive operations are now proceed-; in" in Morocco in pursuance of tie "Directory's resolve to bring the campaign against the KifYs to an end, even though this involves some withdrawal from I enemy country. General I'rimo de Kive/a, who has exchanged the Dictatorship of Spain for : the High Commissionership of Morocco, is directing operations, and has boldly decided to fall back from the holy city of Shcshuan (45 miles south of Tetuan) to a new fortified line. A communique in this connection says that the Spaniards are supported by warships and aeroplanes, and .provoked an engagement with a view to inflicting exemplary chastisement so as to facilitate ' subsequent retirement. In the course of I hard fighting the Spaniards lost 10 killed and 52 wounded. The War Office decided to postpone the disbandment of the 1021 class and to call the 1!>24 class to the colours in i order to pursue an inexorable campaign. (Reuter.) DISAFFECTION CRUSHED. PARIS, November 12. A message, from Madrid states that public opinion in Spain is that the encounters at Vera and Barcelona, and the arrests at Perpignam. indicate that there was a concentrated movement by a- small revolutionary group, apparently syndicalists. It is 'believed that the Government has the situation well in hand. About 40 arrests have been made, including two ex-Deputies. Both the latter are extreme Republicans. The general impression is that the revolutionary movement in the north east has been definitely suppressed. The nffair seems to have been badly organised. The plot is ascribed to political supporters of the old Spanish regime.— (Reuter.)
