LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
A RECORD SEASON. PROFIT OVER £1500. While it was always expected that the present season of the Auckland Rugby League would be a profitable one, few anticipated such a record as has been established, and the result of this season's programme has placed the League in a very flourishing position. All told, the gate receipts total over £SOOO, of which over £5000 were taken at the club competitions. The expenditure was heavy, a substantial amount being incurred in tarring the terraces, erecting the auxiliary stand, and increased insurance rates for players. In addition the receipts at the Australian 'Varsity matches, the games against the Englishmen, and the match with the Christchurch Marist Brothers team were subject to from 50 to 60 per cent cut, but notwithstanding this, the League will show a profit on the season of over £1500. It was a great season, and the League has every reason to feel that the future of the thirtcen-a-side game is assured.
