YELLOW CABS (N.Z.) LTD. I STEADY DEMAND FOR SHARES. V The more this flotation is studied the better it is liked by investors. A strange thing about it, too, is the large nurjjber of applications ■ that are coming in from towns far removed from Auckland. These investors evidently realise'what a good thing is offering, and that it is a wise policy to get into the parent Company, in view of extensions later on. All the chief towns in New Zealand will soon have Yellow Cabs. The Auckland Company holds all rights. AUCKLAND PAYS OVER £300,000 A YEAR FOR TAXIS. A few timid souls have expressed the fear that Auckland is not yet a big enough city to support a company like the Yellow Cab Company. The absurdity of such a contention will be obvious when it is pointed out , that there are 350 licensed taxis at present on the Auckland streets, and that it costs Auckland citizens well over $300,000 a year to maintain them. A very modest proportion of this amount would enable the Yellow Cab Company to pay handsome and frequent ■ dividends, and it can be obtained without materially affecting the majority of the present taxi owners. . ' IMPROVED CONDITIONS FOR ALL. The present taxi service is undoubtedly a great public- convenience, and the majority of owners enjoy the confidence of the people who patronise them. There will always be a demand for a very special service, such as so many of them are at present giving, also plenty of patrons who can afford to pay for the convenience of getting credit, but the introduction of the Yellow Cab system into Auckland will make things better all round for everybody. Organised competition is always in favour of the public, and the fact that taxi fares will be brought within reasonable limits will enable far more riders to use taxis regularly ! are. able-to The taxi;j habit will be encouraged to an extent that will double or treble the number of regular ~ patrons, This is the usual experience. Then again, the Yellow Cab system of operation will so improve existing conditions that a weeding out process will eventuate, and only .. those who are worthy and businesslike will receive public support. This is as it should beInstead of standing idle most of the time as at present, every taxi should be doing more miles per day, and thus earning more money at a lower rate per mile. Taxi owners who , are alive to the position are very joyful in their hearts at the coming of the Yellow Qibjt, They know what is going to happen, and are not afraid. It is the people of Auckland in the mass, however, who are going to reap the most benefit. They will get better value for the huge sum of money being spent than they do npw.. "**#s9K&tiad THE GROWTH OF AUCKLAND. Another thing to remember in connection with YpLLOW CABS is this: Auckland is growing fast. It is rapidly becoming a great city. YELLOW CA?S (N-Z-). LTD, J,, will e?ovr' with the city. It -will become a great organisation. It is not here for any limited, time. Jt is likely to.be here as long as Auckland exists. Its fleet of Cabs, will be constantly added to and automatically improved yqth the times. Yellpw Cabs (N.Z.), Ltd.., will become a public institution, because such an institution is nwegsary, and. as far as anybpt|y can see at present, will always be required in a great city.
