LABOUR DAY CELEBRATIONS.
J FIITE £RTJUMTAX2CMEirr ABBASGED. THREE DAYS' CARNIVAL. The committee in charge of the arrangements for the Labour Day celehrationa have compiled a very attractive programme of entertainment, which will extend over three days, from October 25 to 27 inclusive, and is so varied as to appeal to everyone. The big attractions of the carnival will be the sports programmes, and these will be extensive and attractive. A start will be made on Saturday, when the bill of fare will include running and cycling events, Soccer matches. Highland dancing, and a special exhibition bout of boxing between C. Purdy, Irish Olympic and Australasian champion, and P. Hansen, ex-Australasian welterweight champion. The same evening boxing, dancing, and a fireworks display should draw a big crowd to Carlaw Park. On Sunday afternoon and evening addresses will bo delivered at the Park by the Rev. W. G. Monckton, the Very Rev. Father Holbrook, the Rev. H. J. Ralph, the Rev. J. Lamb Harvey, Ensign Inplis, and Mr. H. E. Holland, M.P. On Monday there will be another programme of field sports and dancing, the carnival concluding with a big fireworks display on Monday night.
