Laburnum returned to Auckland ■ to-day after an absence of over four moiiths. After the warship had been passed by the doctor she herthed alongside the oil-tanker Niicula ar ihe Shcerlegs' wharf, Devonport. The Laburnum left Auckland on June 6 and visited Fiji. Samoa, Cook Group. Tahiti. Tonga, and Fiji, in the order named. She is to leave here again about Christmas time for a cruise of the New Zealand coast. INTERCOLONIAL PASSENGER SERVICE. The following Christmas ami New Year sailings of vessels employed in the intercolonial passenger service are announced by the Union Company:— The Maheno is to leave Auckland for Sydney on Thursday, Oeceiuber IS, instentl of Friday, the. usual day, and the Manuka will also leave. Wellington ou that date instead of Friday. The Marama "is to sail from Sydney for Wellington on December 18, and id to leave the capital port on her return trip on December 24. On January 2 she will leave the N.S.W. port for Auckland. On December 24 the Maheno is to leave Sydney for Auckland, and is to proceed hence to Wellington to leave there on January 2 for Sydney again. VANCOUVER ANTI 'FRISCO MAIL SERVICE. ™An alteration in the running of the Tahiti. Makura and Niagara has been made in anticipAtion of the advent of. the new Aorangi in the Vancouver service. The Union Company advise that the Tahiti will take the plane of the Makura, and will leave here for Vancouver and San Francisco, on January 27, one -week later than the scheduled time. There will be no steamer from Wellington to 'Frisco on February 3. On February 23 the Tahiti is to re-enter the San Francisco mail service, leaving the American port on that date. The Niagara, on arrlTal at Sydney on February 7, will withdraw for survey, and the Makura will sail on February 12 in her place. The Aorengl is scheduled to leave Vancouver on February 11 and is due to arrive at Auckland on Monday, March 2, leaving here the following day for Sydney. She is to leave the K.S.W. port on March 12 and Auckland five days later for Vancouver, via Suva. Honolulu and Victoria. UNION CO.'S STEAMERS. The Karori is to leave Lyttolton about Tuesday for Auckland, ria I'icton and Wellington. The Maheno left Sydney yesterday with passengers, mails, and cargo for Auckland, where she is due on Tuesday next. The Kama was expected to leave Weilington at noon to-day for Auckland, via Napier. After discharge here she is to proceed to Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. It was considered doubtful whether the Kaimanawa would complete her discharge and eail for Westport this afternoon. She tm to load (it tbc coal port next week for Auckland. The following movements of vessels engaged in the Melbourne and Devonport The Kiiiwnrrn is"now loading at Ilnvonport for Auckland, via Melbourne. The Kaikorai has been fixed to load at Devonport about October 2:: for this port, while the Kaituna is to load at Melbourne and Geelong early neil month. If required, the latter vessel will complete her cargo at Devonport. TURAKINA FROM LIVERPOOL. The N.Z. Shipping Co.'s fine modern cargo carrier, Turakina. arrived at Auckland at day break thia morning on her third trip from Home, and after medical inpsection berthed at the western side of Queen's Wharf to discharge the local portion of her cargo before proceeding to southern ports to complete discharge and to Innd for her return voyage. On her recent trip the Turakina loaded all her cago at Londan and failed finally on September 9. Fine weather was encountered in the Atlantic and Curacar was reached on September 23. Oil fuel wns taken on board at this port, the Turakina being the first of the company's fleet to call there on the outward voyage. After a stay of twelve hours the vessel resumed her voyage arid reached Colon on the evening of the 25th. transit through the canal being obtained the following dny. Coming across the Pacific, the weather continued fine until within four days steam of Auckland, when moderate westerly winds were encountered. The Turakinu has thus made the trip from Xcw Zouland to London flnd back n£fl.in in the fast time of 2 months, 28 days, this helng a very creditable performance and ?i]nal to the present record for the trip vow held by the Tekoa.
