DEVONPORT CUP.

WON BY SOMEH.VUXE. The last round of the Dcvonport Cup was decided at Kemuera this afternoon, when Somerville met lit. Eden, and after a good game won by 9 goals to 1. Areta, the ohampionship winners, defaulted to St. Luke's. Very bad weather conditions prevailed, yet the ground was in fine playing order. The result gives Somerville the Devonport Cup for the season and next week they meet St. Luke's for the Kent Cup. The teams were :— Somerville. —Cooper, Roberts, Baildon, B Rogers, T. Newsham, E. Watts, C. Watts, H. Watts, Seccombe, D. Eogers. Mt. Eden.—Ritchie, Surman, Mclvor (2), Giles, Hirst, Itoblnson, Wilson, Alexander, Horspool. Heavy rain fell as the teams took the field and play of a brisk order ensued from the initial bully. From a central attack, E. Watts reached the circle edge, where Ritchie stopped his progress and returned to midfield. H. Watts opened another attack, and after a sharp onslaught Watts netted. The whites became aggressive from the bully, and although the goalie stopped well, H. Watts netted. Mt. Eden, headed by Alexander and Giles, then pierced the white's circle, but at the critical moment the ball crossed the line. Give and take play followed till the Somerville vanguard, sweeping all before them, reached the circle, and C. Watts scored. The whites continued to hammer the defence, till C. Watts added the fourth goal. Good work by the Eden forwards carried play to Somerville's quarters. The Invaders were Tcpulsed, but Alexander came again, and after a sharp bout in the goal-motltn netted. Somerville 4, Mt. Eden 1, Play moved up and down field at a brisk rate. Coming with a sharp attack, Rogers beat the defence and scored. Half-time was then called. Somerville ;' Mt. Eden 1 Immediately the second half opened, Somerville attacked, and for the first quarter of an hour had Mt. Eden penned down. The defence at last broke down ac E. Watts, from close play, piloted the sixth goal A rally by Mt. Eden reached Somerville's twenty-five, where Baildon stopped progress and returned his forwards to the Eden twenty-eve. A couple of corners improved matters for the whites and a pass save H. Watts a chance that was accepted. Sharp passing between Rogers, E Watts, »nd C. Watts bad Mt. Eden in difficulties and only the fine goal-keeping of Ritchie saved the situation. Big hitting Bythe Edenites followed, then the Somerville forwards again Invaded the circle,, .and C. Watts beat the goalie. Play rem'Lined about midfield for a little while and in the last few minntes an onslaught by Somervtlle ended in E.
