MOSQUITOES!

A TAKAPUXA PLADsT. The activities of mosquitoes was the 'subject of an amusing letter received from a ratepayer, by the Takapuna Borough Council last evening. rrhe letter stated that the writer had occasion recently to visit the golf links at Narrow Keck, when he noticed that an area of water there appeared covered with a hlack skin which, on being probed with a golf stick, proved to be myriads of mosquitoes. The writer was not aware whether the council had any influence with, the Devonport powers, or whether any steps would be taken in the matter, but he did know that mosquitoes were neVef content to stay within their own Iwrough and bite their own Mayor and councillors, but seemed to take a liendish delight in migrating to Takapuna. and attacking" the Mayor and councillors there. Even that would not have worried him if the insects would stop there, but when they turned' their attention to the wives and ehildivn of the Icing- sftiffeifng ratepayers, then, indeed, he thought that it was time something was done about the matter —kerosene for instance. The letter was received amid laughter and it was decided that a request be sent to the Mayor of Devonport, asking that the mosquitoes lie compelled to remain within their own borough.
