EXPERIMENTS IN GOLF.
TO RESTRAIN DRIVING. • A3JD REDUCE ACREAGE. (Received 10 a.m.) LOXDOX, September 24. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of 6t. Andrew's reports the failure of experiments with a new ball with which it was hoped to restore the balance between the length of the holes and the power of the elnb, and thus restrain long drivers and reduce the acreage required for first-class courses. The balls tried were solid cored, both larger and smaller than the present type. Floaters were also tried, but all results were negative. It is decided to continue the experiments.— ('"Sun.")
