Tho alterations to tho dwelling at Mount Albert, donated to the Plunket Society for the purpose of a Karitane Hospital, have advanced sufficiently to fix the opening day for the institution. The ceremony will "take place on October 16, and will he performed by the Mayor. Including the mothers' cottage, there will he accommodation for 40 patient;. Miss Hitchcock, formerly matron of the Dunedin Karitane Hospital, has been appointed matron, and will have a start , of five trained nurses. Preparations arc in hand for the admission of -20 patients when the hospital opens. A training school for Karitane nurses will he conducted, and a dozen probationer* vrill commence next month.
