Tlip southerly wind had dried up the ground, and the track was in excellent condition. Considering it was an off day there was a good attendance of the public. Along the back Landbird drew out well from Totara Jack, with Karamu, MiBS Micky, and Prince Rufus together. General Rose falling at the first fence along the back. Landbird drew right away, rnnning across thr- top. and entered the straight with the race won. In the run to the judge Landbird r-asilv stalled off Prince Rufus and won by a 'length and a-balf.
