An audacious theft in the public street was perpetrated one evening this week, when an old man had hia pocket picked and a wallet containing over £100 stolen. According to the victim's story, he had withdrawn £122 10/ from the Post Office Savings Bank last week. On Tuesday, while walking in the main street, he was passing two men, one of whom allegedly put his arm around the victim's neck, and at the same time gripped him by the chin. The old man was taken aback and too surprised to say or do anything.- The alleged assailant then released the old man, who later discovered that the wallet was missing. The police are investigating.
