Generally speaking values of stocks are Well maintained on 'Change, but less business is being done, and it would seem probable that business will be dull until after tbe 4th of next month. South British InBurance firmed a little, sales being made up to 43/. National Insurance could still be placed at 7."./, and N.Z. Insurance changed bands at 29/ G. . Bonk of New Zealand shares eased a little. Bales taking place at 56/9, after which an extra threepence was ottered. Buyers came in for Golflsbrougb, Mort shares, 44/9 being offered for ordinary and sixpence less for the new. issue; but no sellers quoted. National Mortgage' shares were placed this week at 73/0, and buyere still offer 74/. Inquiries were made this* week for P. and O. Deferred stock at £200, but sellers asked an extra £10. Sales were made of Northern Steam, contributing issue, at 8/. At the thirdpull yesterday sales were reported of Commercial Bank snares at 30/, with further buyers at the same. rate.A Buyers' .also ■ame in for National Bank of Australia at Q5 4/, bat no seller quoted. ' Timber Company shares are still In good demand, but few sales are recorded, as sellers seem scarce. Kauri Timber shares firmed to buyers at "31/ yesterday afternoon, but no business resulted. An advance took place in the buying quotation foe . Grey and Menzie'e shares this, week, 13/6 being offered. Kempthorne, Prosscr Drug shares changed hands at 68/G, and buyers of Farmers' Fertiliser shares advanced their offers to 79/. An advance also took place in the buying "quotations for Phillips and lmpey, Ltd;, but 30/ did not tempt holders. Wathi shares had sales at 28/3. and a number of transactions took place in New Waiotahl share* at from 7Jd to 1/1, after which the price eased, buyers dropping back to 91d. Transactions took place in Government War Loans, bond and inscribed 4} per cent, at 4,87 10/, and. buyers offered £101 for Soldier* <Loan,' both issues.
