THE CHARITY MATCH.

TO BE PLATED AT SHOWGROUND. At the weekly meeting last night of the A-B.U. executive, Mr. H. Frost presiding, it was decided that the Charity Cup match be played at the Showground. The matter •was keenly discussed, as a strong effort had been made to get the game on the Domain, but this had failed on account of the reserve having been closed by the City Council for the purpose of preparing the cricket pitches, and the cricket associations had objected to the game being played there for the reason that it -would delay for nearly a month the preparation of the wickets. The committee decided that there should be no free list for the match, and that the jrate charges should be 1/ for adults and 6d for children. Jlr. T. Buchnnau was appointed manager of the team to play Whangarei on Saturday, the matter of a team to play North Auckland at Whangarei on September 27 being left in the hands of the chairman and the selector to arrange. Keports were received from Messrs. G. Nicholson and J. Potter, managers respectively of the teams that toured South and went 19 Dargaville. The former stated that the Auckland team that went South was the finest pack of forwards that had represented Auckland lor many years. He also had some special mention for the entertainment provided for the visitors a.t New Plymouth. King's Old Boys and Grammar Old Boys Associations were granted the use of the Showground on September 27 for special matches, and Manukau Club was granted permission to play Takanini on Saturday. About seven thousand spectators Witnessed the Wellington-Southland match, played at Rngby Park raider Weal conditions. There was practically no wind and no sun, and the ground was in perfect order. The Wellington pack were skilfully directed, and had the best of the tight work, while the backs got a good supply - of the ball, but were not strong enough in the open. The Otago Union notified that it was sending" a representative team to play West Coast at Greymouth, on October 1, and Buller, at Westport, on October 4. The Moascar-Cup match between Mount Albert GVammar School and New Plymouth High School was set down lor September 27 at New Plymouth. The question of future tours came up for consideration. Mr. A. C. Kitto, chairman, said that they ought to suggest to-the delecates in England the wishes of the Dominion on the matter. He mentioned that they had agreed for annual exchange Visits with New South Wales. Mr McKenzie thought they should have an English team in 1026, and it was agreed to invite a team from Britain. It was decided to inform, the delegates that the union were prepared to consider a tour to Africa in 1925.
