Dr. M. Price left for Wellington last evem'ng. Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Emanuel return from a visit to Sydney to-morrow. Messrs. G. H. Dixon and W. Hyde (Wellington) and C. Moddren (Christcburch) are at the Star Hotel. Eecent arrivals at Hotel Cargen are Mr. and Mrs. T. Sanders (Australia), and Mr. A. E. Harding (Dargaville). Messrs. A. Duncan and E. Troutbeck, who have been taking part in the golf tournament, left for Botorua this morning. Mr. and Mrs. R. McLennan and Colonel and Mrs. R. Chesney, who have been staying at the Grand Hotel, leave for Wellington this evening. Dr. J. S. Ell : ott, president of the Wellington College Old Boys' Association, is leaving with Mrs. Elliott on. Tuesday next for a trip to America. Lieutenant-Colonel H. E. Avery, CM.G., D.5.0., who recently resigned the position of Quartermaster-General to the Xew Zealand Forces, hae accepted a positfon in the Wellington Ford Sales and Service department. Grand Hotel guests include Mr. and Mrs. J. Graham (Feclding), and Messrs. W. E. Ward (New York), A. W. Donald (Auckland), G. Fraser (Melbourne), E. Poulton (Wellington), H. J. Barlow (Christchurch), and F. U. Williams (Xapier). Mr. T. Crawfurd Haultain, formerly of Auckland, has joined the Canadian General Electric Company, at their head branch in Toronto, Canada. Since leaving Auckland, over two years ago, he has visited the leading cities of Canada, and is much impressed with the advance electricity hae reached in ever}' part of that country. Captain O. 11. Mead, D.5.0., staff officer in charge of Xo. G Regimental District, Palmerston North, has been appointed staff officer in charge of Xn. 5 District, Wellington city and suburbs, to fill the vacancy consequent upon Major E. Puttick, D.5.0., bainj; appointed assistant quartermastergeneral at general headquarters.
