QUARTERMASTER-GENERAL.
I,IEUT.-COI.ONEIi AVERT RESIGNS. A SHALL. SEXSATIOX. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON; this day. A small sensation in military circle* was caused to-day by an announcement that Lieut.-Colonel" Avery, Quarter-master-General to the New Zealand Forces, had resigned in order to enter private business. Lieut.-Colonel Avery served through the war, later gradnated at the Staff College, Camberley. and became Quartermaster - General in January last. The resignation of Captain 0. Opie, Xew Zealand Staff Corps, another wellknown-, officer at General Headquarters, is also announced. The Acting Minister of Defence bu appointed Lieut.-Colonel H. E. Pilkington, C.8.E., R.X.Z.A.. director of ordnance services, to bo QuartermasterGeneral of the New Zealand Defence Forces, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Lieut.-Colonel H. EAvery. C.M.G.. D.S.O. Major E. Puttick, D.5.0., X.Z.S.C., who has been acting as staff officer in the "Wellington district, is appointed assistant quarter-master-general. Major T. J. Kin?i X.Z.A.0.C., chief ordnance officer a* Trenthani, is appointed director of ordnance services.
