GROWTH OF MANGERE.

PUBLIC HALL OPENED. The progress of a town or district is often reflected in its public institutions and buildings, and the fact that inMangere a public hall, costing £4000, has been built, certainly indicates the growth of that portion of the Auckland district. This afternoon the hall was officially opened by the Prime Minister, who was a resident of this district for many years. It was a notable event, and the proceedings were enlivened by the holding of a "Paddy's Market," with the customary side-shows and competitions. The Onehunga Brass Band rendered a popular musical programme, and as the weather was perfect the many visitors thoroughly enjoyed the event.
