SOLDIER FARMERS.
THE HENRY SETTLEMENT. < INSUFFICIENT RELIEF. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. The difficulties with which many soldier settlers have to contend was brought under the notice of the Waikato branch of the Farmers' Union yesterday, , when a deputation of returned men from Henry Settlement, Taupiri, attended to I solicit the executive's support. It .was | stated that returned soldiers who took i up land under section 2 of the Discharged Soldier Settlers Act were not receiving the same benefit from the results of the ' Dominion Revaluation Board as those placed on Crown-bought properties, that many returned soldiers were unable to meet interest on present valuations, and, with no reduction decided on, it would be i only a matter of time before the whole position reverted to the former unsatisfactory state. Although members: of the Revaluation Committee had paid a j visit to Henry Settlement, they had ' refused to grant reasonable relief, j The meeting decided unanimously: ; "That soldier settlers under section 2 of i the 1917 Act should receive consideratoan ! commensurate with the relief given to 'other settlers under the same Act: and j that the attention of the Government be ! drawn to the treatment of settlers in the i Henry Soldiers'- Settlement."
