SOUTH AFRICAN CRICKETERS.
SOUTH OF ENGLAND MATCH. (Received 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, September 4. South of England in the first innings scored 312 for nine wickets, and then declared the innings closed. Tile Africans in their first innings made 20!) (Ward 08, Nbursc CD). Woolley took four for Oil and Belf four for 24. Tho English players 'batted on an easy wicket, the outfield being heavy. The South African fielding made scoring slow. Calthorpe alone waß 'brisk, until the last ten minutes in which thirty was scored. Tate made ~5, ibeing once missed in tho deep field, which was the only dropped catch cf the day. The Africans began well on a Wet wicket, "Nourse and Ward putting on 141 for the third Wicket. Wool lev and Reli, after the toa adjournment," were responsible for the collapse of the Visitors, wUcketß only adding 54 runs. The drying wicket was most difficult.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
