SOME SUGGESTIONS.
(To the Editor.) i Sir,—-May I be allowed to use your ] valued column to express my surprise at the shortsighted methods of the Devonport Ferry Co., also to make a suggestion which I am sure will be appreciated by Stanley Bay residents? Others than myself will be grieved to hear that the good old Eagle is to be scrapped, and I respectfully suggest that instead of this sad end, the Eagle should be placed on the Stanley Bay run, and thus free the Ngoiro for the Northcote people. Now that Stanley Bay is growing out of its infant's clothes, it is only fair that Buch an up-to-date boat as the Eagle should be put at their disposal. Another matter that comes to mind is that we notice that the Takapuna Steamship Company ib building a boat to replace the Britannia, and rather than j see this good ship share the same fate as the Ea<*le, would it not be a gracious act tor the Takapuna residents to consent to the gift of the Britannia, to the Auckland City Council, who would no. doubt find a permanent resting place for this ship in the new Civic Square?—l am, etc, DEVONPORT RESIDENT.
