Sir, —I quite agree with "white" and "White, N_Z.,"' but they both fail to notice one serious trouble these Hindus are liable to cause. lam a resident of Birkenhead and have these "coolie" hawkers calling every day—fruit hawkers, vegetable hawkers, rag, bone and bottle merchants. They usually do "trade" in pairs, handling fruit with one hand and disease carrying bottle* with the other. Ia it any wonder we have outbreaks of different epidemics? Perhaps this will be a point for our health inspectors to look into. Ido not know how the coolie gets a license by our City Council, there is laxity somewhere, and I would suggest that the City Council demand a health certificate before granting any more permits. I am, etc., BOUT 'E_l OUT.
