ONEHUNGA WHARF.
FIRST SECTION COMPLETED. The first section of the ferro-concrete wharf at Onehunga is now completed, and will be ready for the berthing of vessels next week. The structure is a splendi piece of work, and is one of the finest ferro-concrete wharves south of the line. The Railway Department has also completed the laying of the lines in the new portion of the work, which is embedded in concrete. . A part of the old wooden wharf at the eastern end has been strengthened, extra piles having been driven in and new decking laid down, so that it will be able to withstand heavy traffic. The intention of the Harbour Board is to have two extra berths available if necessary. Next week the work of driving the piles for the second section will be taken in hand. This portion will not take as long to complete owing to the fact of it being carried out in a straight line to the end of the wharf, whereas the first portion was of a curved nature. The whole work is.under the supervision of _>'-. Angus, Harbour Board engineer. Mr. J. Drew is foreman of works.
