REV. G. PATERSON.

MURAL TABLET UNVEILED. AT ST. JAMES' CHURCH. The wonderful work accomplished during his brief ministry at St. .lames' Presbyterian Church, was referred to at the unveiling of a memorial tablet yesterday to the Rev. George Paterson. The inscription on the tablet is as follows: "To the Glory of God, and in affectionate memory of the Rev. George Paterson, minister of this Church from July 20, 1921. till his death at Honolulu on October 10, 102:!. Erected by his loving people as an appreciation of his godly life, faithful preaching, kindly personality and devoted ministry. Steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord." The unveiling ceremony was performed by Mrs. Paterson. The Rev. R. Harries delivered an impressive sermon in the course of which he said their late beloved leader had, by his life, and example, been an inspiration to all with whom he came in contact, preaching a gospel, that not only taught men how to live, but how to die. Mr. A. J. Entrican said that Mr. Paterson, during his brief ministry, had greatly increased the congregation and doubled the revenue of the church. He had also won a unique place in the hearts of his people: Mr. Paterson also possessed great powers of organisation, but was most hospitable, and had a genius for friendship. The Rev. G. B. Inglis said Mr. Paterson had appealed to all that was best in the hearts of men. Every- member of the Presbytery was delighted to have obtained so fine a pastor and evangelist. Mr. Paterson proved himself to be a friend to the friendless lonely, and his general and delightful personality endeared him to all. At the conclusion of the service tTle hymn. "For all the Saints who from their Labours Rest," was sung.
