&AS VEGAS' SHIPMENT. TOTAL OF 54 : 755 SACKS. ' The second large shipment of oats to arrive at Auckland from the Pacific Coast was brought by the steamer Las Vegas, which arrived here to-day. The shipment totalled 54.785 sacks, of which :;s,nß4 sacks are for discharge at Auckland and the balance as follows: Wellington 0720 sacks, Lyttelton 0031 sacks. This shipment is 1400 sacks larger than that brought by tho Xordbo, which arrived ten days ago, and is now in the South. Reports during the week indicate that there is a heavy shortage of oats in the South Island," and to meet the position at Christchurch. where the scarcity is particularly acute, considerable quantities of oats have been railed J from Invercarprill. Shipments which have arrived from Canada and orders which have been placed for forward delivery, -will no doubt go a long way to meet the shortage in the New Zealand crop.
