HOCKEY.
'VARSITY BEATS ST. LUKE'S.
AHETA BEATEN.
The Auckland Hockey Association championships were resumed at Kemuera this afternoon. Chief interest was centred in the Somerville-Areta match. The game was expected to produce a fine exhibition, but was robbed of interest through hard hitting towards the closing stages. Flashes of bright play were witnessed. Somerville, the best team on the day, gained a win by 2'goals to nil after a hard, strenuous struggle. On the adjoining ground, University brought off a surprise by defeating St. Luke's by 3 goals to 2.
