MISAPPROPRIATION OF MONEY
UNIOX SECRETARY SENTENCED. (By Telegraph.—l'ress Association.) WHANGAREr, Tuesday. In tlic Magistrate's Co\irt to-day Henry Topia, of Prrtland, pleaded guilty to a charge of having converted to his own use certain moneys, amounting to £27 fl/, which he had collected as secretary of the Portland branch of the Auckland Builders, OneriU and Other Labourers' Union, and of failing to account for same, thus committing theft. Accused, who elected to be dealt with summarily, was sentenced to twelve months' reformative treatment.
