ARRIVING THIS EVENING.
THE ENGLISH FOOTBALLERS. FIRST GAME TO-MORROW. The, English League footballers will arrive by the Manuka this evening and will be met on arrival by officials of the New Zealand Rugby League. It was intended that the visitors should leave by the express to-night for Hamilton, but the late arrival of the steamer means that the team will now leave tomorrow morning and open the tour of the Dominion with a game against South Auckland in the afternoon. They will return to the city the. following day and prepare to meet the Auckland representative thirteen at Carlaw Park on Saturday. "** In the Auckland team chosen by the selectors it is passible there will be some alteration, as some doubts are expressed about B. Laing, who is suffering from an injury, being able to take his place in the five-eighths line. In that case it is expected that Drlgrosso will go into the team, but most people would- prefer to sec L. Brown included. Brown, when played against the Australian team at the' Domain, scored two tries, and showed himself to he a footballer of class. This season he has played two games for City, one against Richmond, when lie scored four tries, and the other game against Marist Brothers on Satur. day, when he was unlucky in not scoring on three occasions, each time grounding the ball over the Marists' line, but not once was a try allowed. He has given ample proof that he is a great scoring man, and in attack is certainly more dangerous than Delgrosso, whose form has been a lpng way below representative standard.
