SPEEDING UP.
NEW RETICULATION SYSTEMS. TWO TEAMS TO BE ENGAGED. The desirability of pushing ahead with the systems of reticulation throughout the city and suburbs was emphasised by the chairman, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, at yesterdays meeting of the Auckland Electric Power Board. The fact that the mains had been overloaded in the past has led to some degree of aiarm in the city area, since the board hud been unable to take any new loads. The board should not only have a sufficient margin of power, but sufficient cable to relieve any overburdened main. The board had £250.000 lying idle in England, on which they were responsible for interest and sinking fund, said the chairman. It wad to the interests of the board to have the reticulation carried out as speedily as possible. The board required revenue. Mr. Holdsworth thought the reticulation gangs might be strengthened, so that when high-tension cables were put through, revenue would begin to como in at once. In street-lighting alone there was £26,000 per year waiting to %c picked up, so.that if a twelve month's job could be done in six months it would be to the board's advantage. That the rapidly developing residential area of Jit. Albert had not been reticulated was a matter for regret, said Mr. Holdsworth. By the time the I high, tension cable was taken through the district the reticulation system, at the present rate of progress, would not have liern commenced. On the motion of Mr. Harbutt it was resolved to engage two new teams on reticulation work.
