PIAKO COUNTY'S MAIN ROAD.
I A SEA OK MUD. ri'rom Our Own Correspondent.) The fearful state of the main road between Hamilton and Morrinsville is the subject of much adverse comment in the country districts at present. The very worst part runs through the Piako County. At the last monthly meeting the matter was discussed, when it was ' suggested that the Public Works Engineer at Auckland be written to, to see if the Department would give £25 towards fascining work, and the followI ing took place: — 1 Councillor Stark, the riding member, stated that only one of the Piako county ratepayers had occasion to use the road and that man could dodge the worst by going through his own paddocks. Most of the traffic which went over the road could be sent by rail. One member suggested that the money spent on faseining "would be wasted as it would have to come up again in the summer. Other councillors agreed that this would be. the case, but the chairman said that the Public Works Department might require the council to keep the road open so a councillor called out "Then leave it alone until the Department sings out." and the councillor said, j "Yes, let them sing out.' , I So the sea of mud remains, and traffic !is impeded daily, and a council goes on I contentedly waiting for the P.W.D. to I sing out.
