On Saturday night there was a. fairly heavy fall of snow in the district be twecn Ohakune and Hiliitahi, and a. lighter fall in Taihape district. Except for the higher country, where a heavy fall was experienced, the snow did not lie long, but on (Sunday night a very heavy fall occurred and snow fell till 10 o'clock this morning, the whole countryside being covered to a depth of several inches. The snow close to town soon thawed, but it is still lying deep on high country, some parts of which are covered to a depth of over six inches. The cold snap will cause a setback to dairy farmers, but no lambs are about yet, and 4 sheep farmers will not suffer any loss, though ewes may be affected in some cases.
