ARAPUNI DEVELOPMENT.
MEETING OF LEAGUE EXECUTIVE. (Prom Our Own Correspondent.) TE A-WAMUTU, Thursday. A meeting of the executive of the Tβ Awanintu —Awapunl Development League | was held this morning, the Mayor (Mr. L G. Armstrong) presiding, tkere being also present Messrs. G. Spinley, J. Pbllp, I W. R. Haye3, A. G. Warburton, and J. G. ■Wynyard (secretary). Correspondence or a very Interesting nature bearing upon the selection of a main highway was read. This had to do with a road running from west to east, from Kawhia, via Tβ Awamutu and Arapuni, to Whakatane. A portion of this route has already been declared a highway by the Main Highways Board and nego- I tlations in respect to the other sections of j the route are now in progress. In relation to road access, the chairman reported an arrangement to further subsidise the mall contractor to help him over the bad weather period. It was decided to obtain a report on the ..estimated cost at having repairs effected to the bad portion of the road near the new departmental access road. The question of finance, present and future, was discussed. The present state of the flnancee showed that there Iβ the need of considerably Increased effort In League will call for so much organisation j during the next few months. It was decided to ask the contractors tQ : meet and confer with the League when next ' passing through to Arapunl, and to sub--' sequently announce a comprehensive policy j in relation to tie League* ehjecttTt*.
