RANGITAIKI DRAINAGE.
SERIOUS RESULTS FROM DELAY. SPEEDY ACTION URGED. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") WHAKATANE, this. day. At a .meeting of the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce, in conference ■with representatives of the Rangitaiki Katepayers' Association it was resolved to telegraph to the Prime Minister urging that the Departmental Committee's recommendations in respect to the Rangitaiki should be immediately and fully considered by the Government. The findings of this commission have not yet been made public. A further resolution was passed urging the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to use its influence on behalf of the Rangitaiki settlers. It was stated that Mr. Massey was prepared to remit outstanding drainage rates, but this would not give sufficient rehef.
