MANGAWARA RIVER BOARD.
THE UNSEATED MEMBERS. XOMIXATED FOR RE-ELECTIOX. (Br Telßjraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. A largely attended meeting of ratepayers ot the Mangawara ltiver District discussed tlie recent prosecutions, when four members—E. C. Pilkington. J. Law, F. R. Catley and F. Herbert—lost their seats. The four members spoke and were given a sympathetic hearing, and the meeting unanimously resolved that the 125 ratepayer! who signed the petition asking for the •ppotatment of the Commission, be asked to contribute two guineas each towards defraying the costs of the commission, and He members' fines and expenses. It Is stated that since the meeting a tot liberal response has been given to the appeal. The late four members have Men renominated for the extraordinary Tjcandes on the hoard which their conviction created. An election will be held tonris the end of the month.
