TOFUA FATALITY.
DEATH FOLLOWS ACCIDEXT. j The death of Mr. Charles Edwin ! Couzens, who died in the hospital on Monday from pneumonia, which followed on injuries he received through falling down the hold of the steamer Tofua on July 9, was the subject of an inquest held before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., last evening. The relatives of deceased were represented by Mr. Elliott, and Mr. Bagnall appeared on [ behalf of the Union Steamship Company. Evidence wa3 given to the effect that deceased fell down the hold while descending a ladder. Dr. A. J. Mason stated that, when admitted to the hospital, deceased was suffering from head injuries and crushed ribs. He progressed favourably until Saturday, when he developed pneumonia. No> fracture of the skull was discernible, and there was no trace of pneumonia when deceased was admitted. The inquest was then adjourned until .this afternoon. , v
