UNEQUALLED LOCAL SETTING. ('Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The .Australian wool year, which closes on Monday, stands without equal in past records. Local selling has been characterised by a singular absence of marked fluctuation in demand for the staple product. Quantities available for sale in Australia dropped 10 per cent, I which was responsible for the decided j lift in prices in January and March. In the past year about 15/ per head was obtained for wool compared with 12/ in the previous year. At the Sydney sales the prices ranged from snid to 40Jd, compared with 35d to 38Jd in" 1921-22* Of the wool exported from Sydney, France received most. Britain's importation dropped 10 per cent, while the imports into Continental countries and Japan increased.— (A. and X.Z. Cable.)
