AUTOMATIC PHONES.
(To tbe Editor.) '' Sir, —May I ask, through the channel ' of your esteemed paper, whether the poßt and telegraph authorities could not put a slop to the automatic telephone ! nuisance. It is a fact that the tele- ' phone is sometimes kept ringing for ' fully ten minuies in an empty office, to ! the great inconvenience of neighbours, who, being separated from the absentee only by a thin partition, are unable to do any serious work through the nerve ' racking and constant ringing of the telephone.—l am, etc., J. HARTFORD.
