ON POINT DUTY.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —There arc many urgent matters I might put before our civic authorities for consideration, but of all, I think that the first should be the comfort of our j police officers on point duty in the five main points of traffic. The guardians of the law have to stand in one spot for ' far too long, exposed to all sorts and conditions of weather, and I think that ' the time hae come when the "stop and go" signal should be operated from a box in an elevated position on a corner, the same as the tram ewitchmen have. If the officer has an offender against hie signal, all he has to do is to take his number, for it is sure to be a motor hog. —1 am, etc., FAIR DOOS.
