Mr. N. Rowlins leaves for the Islands this evening. Rev. O. M. Doyle, of Remuera, has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mr. Barry Coney is attending the Music Teachers* Conference in Wellington. Mr. H. de Costa arrived from Gisborne this morning, and is at the Star Hotel. Mr. J. Hislop, Undersecretary for Internal Affairs, returns to Wellington by the express to-night. Bishop Averill, who is at present visiting the King Country, expects to return to Auckland in about a fortnight. Mr. Jf. Hawkins,. inspector of prisons, is at present in Auckland. He will leave for Wellington by to-morrow . night's -express. Mr. R. G. Sellar, of Auckland, returned on Saturday after a five weeks' motor • car trip. Mr. Sellar travelled as far i South as Dunedin. Major-General C. W. Melvill, general • officer commanding the N.Z. Military ' Forces, was a passenger by the Main Trunk express last night. • Mr. J. W. Woodbury, stationmaster ' at Christchurch. will retire on super- . animation on June 1, after 40 years' ■ service with the Railway Department. Crow, who has been a librarian ) in the New Zealand Government office in t London for a number of years, has . j retired from the service, greatly to the I regret of all those who have had occasion to make use of the High Commissioner's office. Mr. Crow's unfail- ', ing kindliness and helpfulness did much to render the task of inquirers at New ■; Zealand House a pleasant one, and his ! retirement from thn office is much regretted. Mr. and Mrs. Crow intend 1 during the summer to make an extensive ' tour of the Continent.
