CLAIM FOR WAGES.

Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., was occupied at the Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon. " William John Brown, of Auckland, sawmill hand (Mr. J. J. Butler), sued the Waitakere Timber Company (Mr. Anderson) and B. L. Brown and Son (Mr. C. T. Field) to recover wage, alleged to be due totalling £59, also £6« 0/_ for board supplied at the request of B. L. Brown. Plaintiff stated he was employed by B. L. Brown to work at 20/ per day for the Waitakere Timber Company. At B. L. Brown's request witness also ran the cook-house. The arrangement was that B. L. Brown should stop the money off the men's wages. Mr. Anderson said there was no contractual relationship between the company and the plaintiff. Jolui Archibald Milne, managing-direc-tor of defendant company, stated that a contract was entered into with B. L. Brown. The company never employed the plaintiff nor authorised him to "run the cook-house. Mr. McKean held there was no claim against the Waitakere Timber Company. He gave judgment for plaintiff for £114 9/ against the other defendants. Mr. Anderson said the company would not ask for costs, and was prepared to pay plaintiff some of the wages he claimed.
