WIFE WENT TO "SALLY."
HUSBAND RETURNED TO MOTHER. I "These people have been married for !20 years," remarked Mr. J. 1". W. Dickj son at the Magistrate's Court to-day, iv ian application for a maintenance order. "The other night the wife went to 'Sally* i with her daughter, and when she returned home her husband had gone to ' his mother." She had no complaint as to his treatment of her in the past, but as her money has been stopped, asks for an order for maintenance. Mr. Colliding, on behalf of the husband, said hi. client had given his wif_ £4 per week until quite recently. The husband informed him that the wife had written her name across some cheques and got £!) 19/. I Mr. Dickson: That is absolutely dei nied. ! Mr. Colliding said the husband simply I stopped his wife's allowance until that amount was made up. He was quite | prepared to pay the household accounts, i Mr. F. K. Hunt, SM. said: "The man has ' got to pay his wife that £4 per week. If she wastes it, then he can come here ' again. It puts a wife in a derogatory ] position if she has no money, and her husband pays the accounts. That was I the position in other days, but is not | tolerated now. I will adjourn the application for one month, and you tell the husband to continue to give his wife the J_i per week.'' ._■_»__ i_ __._ i *"
