GLENORA PARK.

m i OLD HOMESTEAD SOLD. i TO SOUTHERN HORSE-TRAINER. For the second time within a couple of years the Papakura property known as Glenora Park has changed hands, the - purchaser this time being Mr. J. T. | Jamieson, the well-known horse-trainer j, of Masterton, and recently stationed at Woodvillc. Glenora Park was for many years recognised as "The Old HomeiYead," of Papakura. and it was there the late Mr. j , W. Walters carried on tho breeding of thoroughbreds, the king of the stud being i the successful imported stallion Soult. Some time ago the property was pur- j chased by Mr. Eliot R. Davis and laid j out as a private training track, and j during the past two seasons horses carry- i ing his colours and trained by Mr. F. j Davis have been prepared there. Tiie j same trainer also had charge of sev-eral horses owned by the Hawke's Bay sports- ' man, Mr. T. H. Dowry, and the best performers of the combined, teams were . Highland, Queen March, and Nigger Minstrel. For some days it has been known that negotiations were being conducted for j the purchase of the property, and these were concluded when a deal was reached, and the property sold to Mr. Jamieson. ] The latter was for some years private | trainer to Mr. A. Donald, but recently [ set up as a free lance, and at the just- ; concluded Sydney yearling sales, pur- j chased a number of youngsters on behalf ; of clients and himself. It is understood j that Mr. Jamieson will take possession of Glenora Park in June next, when, besides older members of his team, he will have about 14 rising two-year-olds to prepare. The disposal of the property by Mr. Davis does not mean that the well-known Auckland sportsman is retiring from taking an active part in racing, and his colours will still figure prominently on the racecourses.
