A.R.U. WEEKLY MEETING.
THE TRANSFER PROBLEM,
The problem'of dealing with players of prominence who are temporarily employed outside the city was a feature at the weekly meeting of the A.R.U. Executive last night, when Mr. 11. Frost presided. Recently it cropped up with respect to L. Knight, of Grammar Old Boys, who had been temporarily transferred to Hamilton by his Urm. and played for Grammar against Grafton. The latter team protested against the presence of Knight in the Grammar t™m be the ground that he was a resident of Hamilton and under the jurisdiction of the Hamilton union, and therefore debarred from taking part in club matches in Auckland. The committee decided that in the circumstances Knight was eligible to play for Grammar, and last night a letter was recevied from the Grafton club intimating that the club hnd no confidence in the management committee or its constitution.
Somewhat similar features characterised an application from Marist Old Boys' Club mat ii. Malloy be allowed to play for that club, as a player who had played for the dub last season, but had since been trans'Vrred from A'T-kland to Waipa as a relieving teacher. The committee, by five votes to three, granted permission, conditional on the Waikato union offering no objection. The New Zealand union advised that the following players had been reinstated on the recommendation of the Auckland union : R. Nottingham. V. F. A. Held, T. Mclnness, D. Conway, .T. Saxon O. A. .Tenson, H. Lunn, J. A. T. McKeari, and J. 11. Beesley.
