SOUTH AFRICAN TEAM. ! MATCH AGAINST LEICESTER. LONDON. May 3. In their match against Leicester the South African cricketers made 153 ruas in their first innings (Taylor, not out. 60, Catternll 40. and Ward J 2). Geary took four wickets for 38 runs, and Astill Bye for 70. I Play was interrupted several times hy I smart showers .and cold north-westerly-winds made the conditions unpleasant. The attendance numbered 3000. Taylor plajcd a masterly innings on an easy wicket, but gave three chances when he had scored 16. Leicester in their first inninga were all dismissed for 90 runs (Sharp 21. Sidwell 20, Salmon 11). Blankenbcrg toot five wickets for 23 runs, and Carter three for 8. South Africa in their second innings had lost two wickets for 10 ruus, when Btumps were drawn. Showers again interrupted play for half an hour after tea. — (Reuter.) ENGLISH COUNTY CRICKET. LONDON. May 5. In the match Surrey v. Glamorgan, the former eoored 343 for nine wickets, and declared their innings closed. Peach made !)2. and Jardine 72. Glamorgan compiled j 196. Fender took four wickets for 43 runs. I Sussex made 192 against Northants. The i latter replied with 71 for sis wickets. Mddlesex scored 374 and 6(5 for two wickets (Dales Oil , against Oxford, who made 196. Derby compiled 81 against Lancashire, who replied with i>9 for four wickets.— (Reuter.)
