Tuesday. Oats have taken a sudden bound into the limelight. On Friday they were quoted at 4/S f.0.h.. s.i. To-day sales have been made at ."i 1 and ."i."J. Over-sellers are apparently gettinc anxious, hence the scurry It is all paper" business, as there is little demand for the actual oats. Speculators are now satisfied that the oat crop is a very shori one. and delay in covering their forward sales is a risky business. One of the causes of the sudden jump is no doubt that Canadian May purchases cannot be delayed, on account of. lack of space, until . July, and the price has also advanced in Canada by 10/ per ton. It is apparent I hat some speculators have been hit badly by the swins of the market, as last December sales for May-August delivery were ' made as low a-; :■ ovid ''.r. Wet weather has held up the diigins of potatoes, but enough are coming to hand t.i till u-1 the -space available. Inquiries of | Chrisicburch merchants from .Melbourne i cannot -ecure quotations under £il per ton for June delivery. This makes the future for Canterbury potatoes much better, as at ! present the quotation here on trucks is £o '~> . The tubers should be available on the ! Auckland wharf at substantially less than the Melbourne price. It would appear that the local price will be lirai in June and Linseed is still we.ik. Reports are that crops are poor, hut this is not having much effect on prices, as the outside market rules the position. There is little notice liplr.p taken of i cocksfoot. Though sales are t.-w. merchants ' are not reducing quotations. The price i they paid does li"t allow it. i U is reported that the cowgras* from j Knghind just arrived is not of very g",,ci 1 colour. '' FEILDING SALE. Messrs. Dalgeiy and Co.. Ltd., I'almrrston North, report that at the FeiMinu 1 I Sale on Friday, liud instant, there was a I very good yarding of sheep and a fair !
