I Buildings.—The building inspector rt> E ported that ten building permits had been | - issued during the past fortnight, at a valine I j|of £4360. i i- Great North Road.—The works foreman I submitted a report covering the cost of im- Improving the Great North Road if a schema ii of metalling was adopted. The length of I the road was 114 chains, and if eearlfyia- I and metalling were carried out to a width of I IS feet and a depth of 3 inches the entl- 1 mated cost would be £24 per chain, or a total I cost of £2736. The chairman pointed out § that if this scheme was accepted and car- I ried out in sections consistent with tn» 9 board's finances the first section of the road 1 (i would he worn out long before they com- I r ; pleted the total length. •; c j Gardner Street Culvert.—This wai I - reported upon by the board's foreman, who f >- stated that the present IS-inch pipes were I r too small and that a 4ft culvert, approd- I J mately 100 ft long was required.
