AUSTRALIAN LABOUR.
BALLOT BOX CASE. SYDNEY, April 22. At the annual conference of the Australian Labour party Mr. A. C. Willis, chairman, during the discussion of the faked ballot-box appeals, said the position was now simplified. The three parties involved had intimated that they were not prepared to accept the decision of the conference. This being the case it would be a farce to further analyse the evidence, and judgment should go against the men concerned by default. After a protracted discussion the conference by a large majority endorsed the , expulsion of Bramston, Buckley, Sutherland, and Bailey. The voting was carried out amid scenes of uproar and confusion.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) The allegation in connection with bal-lot-boxes was originally made at the conference in June, 1023, of the Australian Labour party (New South Wales branch). A delegate stated that 1000 spurious ballot papers were issued for , the selection of a candidate by ballot for the Sydney seat in January, 1920, and that ballot-boxes with a sliding panel were used.
