TERRIBLE TORNADO.
THIRTY DEATHS OCCUR. HUNDREDS OF INJURED. THREE TOWNS DEMOLISHED. NEW YORK, "March 30. •Another of the terrific storms which have been taking toll of lives and property in the United States this winter occurred during the last 24 hours. This time a tornado was experienced, accompanied by floods which extended eastward from the Rocky Mountains to Kansas City. Thirty deaths have already been reported. In addition, many hundreds have been injured. Three small towns in Illinois were completely destroyed. The fate of their 1000 inhabitants has not been ascertained. The wind-storm cut across the country in a southerly direction, demolishing thousands of Buildings. 'Four hundred students at a school at Shawnee, Oklahoma, were dismissed when the teacher saw the clouds massing. The school building was demolished a few minutes later. Railway trains in many parts of the country were blown from the tracks. Snow-slides occurred on the "Utah rivers, and these emptying into the Mississippi, the latter overflowed its banks, flooding large areas in four States. The storm is continuing, with blizzards and torrential rains.—(A. and N.Z.)
